Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?
Spray tanning has a wide mist that covers the body without the defined lines that can be left by airbrush tanning.

What does the tanning formula contains?
The main ingredient is dehydroxyacteone or DHA as it has been commonly referred to in the cosmetic industry for over 30 years. DHA is manufactured from sugar and does not contain any potentially harmful chemicals. Sun Gun formula is water based, free of alcohol and oil.

How does the formula work?
The body skin has live and dead skin cells. The DHA oxidizes and reacts on the dead skin cells causing the melamine in the skin to turn a natural tan color.

Is it Safe?
There are no harmful chemicals in the formula, however, it is recommended that you check with your doctor if you are pregnant or have asthma, eczema or sensitive allergic skin.

What kind of colour will I get?
The skin develops instantly to a shade to suit your natural coloring whether you are fair or dark skinned but it will take 3 to 4 hours to bring out the natural looking tan. To achieve the darkest tan possible you can apply two or more coats. It is recommended to wait at least 12 hours before applying a repeat application.

What preparations should I take?
Before you come for your tanning session, please remember to exfoliate well your skin concentrating on your hands, feet and elbows. Wear dark clothes as some slight residue may rub off on the inside of your clothing. The formula is water- soluble and should wash out of most clothing. Your hair should be protected to avoid contact with the formula but if any occurs, wash your hair promptly to avoid temporary discoloration.

When can I shower and swim?
Always wait 3 to 4 hours to allow the product to be totally absorbed in your skin. It is normal that some residual formula may come out during the first shower. Avoid soaking in a tub for long periods and take shower with a cooler temperature. When drying, ensure you pat yourself dry with a towel rather than rub, as this will help the longevity of the tan. Swimming between tanning sessions may cause the tan to fade more quickly. Chlorine has a slight bleaching effect on all skin types, whether you are naturally tanned or have used self -tanning products.

When should I exfoliate and moisturize?
You should exfoliate before your tanning session, concentrating on the hands, feet, knees and elbows. Before your next tanning session you should exfoliate again. Wait 3 to 4 hours before you apply any moisturizing so as not to dilute the effect of the tanning formula. To keep your tan as long as possible (depending on your skin type) you should moisturize twice daily to help keep the skin, silky soft and smooth.

How often should I book tanning sessions?
For new users, we recommend a second tanning session after 3 to 5 days to gain maximum results. To "top up" the tan, we recommend a session every two weeks.
